Contorting Figures, a look at Ákos Ezer
Hungarian artist Ákos Ezer fills up the canvas with contorting figures and bright eye-catching colors. First picking up painting in Highschool Ezer then attended the Hungarian University of Fine Art where he found a deeper understanding of himself and his art. Ákos has gone on to be featured in numerous exhibitions across the globe.
The way the figures in his work twist and turn allows him to fit more within the limitation of the canvas while keeping the scale of the figure rather large. These figures often appear like puppets being controlled by an unknown force. When asked about the theme his works most often work around this is what he had to say to Juxtapoz in his 2019 Interview. “They can be simple thoughts, mainly people-oriented everyday themes as I’m interested the human beings, their motivation, and success, or adversity of the individuals. I’m constantly searching the humorous, (self)-ironical part of the life.”
