Mid-century modern designed daybed and lounge chairs by Instrmnt Applied Design
Glasgow-based studio, Instrmnt Applied Design, also known as I-AD, newest venture in the world of furniture design is “A truly multifunctional piece” A daybed designed in a true midcentury modern style. Created in alliance with Edinburgh-based furniture craftsman Namon Gaston the bed base is crafted from solid American walnut built with quality in mind. The expandable rear section of the bed base can be utilized as a magazine rack or completely replaced by an additional wool cushion.
Also available, although made to order in an extremely limited edition run are beautifully crafted lounge chairs designed as a joint effort between I-AD studio and furniture craftsman Lewis Macleod. The chair frames are made from either American walnut or Scottish oak while the textile elements are made of either grey melton wool, tan calf leather, or forest green Italian Boucle`. “The most striking feature is subtle: a small removable plinth extending on a stainless steel arm, bolted to the left-hand side of each chair,” the studio continues. “Its beveled hardwood top is large enough for a coffee cup or book and neatly adds an additional level of functionality, something which runs through much of our work.”
The quality and simpleness of I-AD’s work are unique, and beautiful in the way that it brings a long-awaited freshness to the incredibly saturated furniture market. You can discover more of their work on their website or Instagram.
