Udi Cassirer exhibits his NFTs at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art

Udi Cassirer a Tel Aviv-based visual and contemporary artist, is bridging the past and future in his recent NFT project. While Cassirer has been creating digital art and paintings since the 90s it wasn’t until the creation of NFTs that it allowed him to bring his digital works into public view. The ability to own and collect digital works has been a game changer with even galleries and museums joining in. Most recently the Tel Aviv Museum of Art has hosted an exhibition titled “NFT One of a Kinds” which features works from Udi Cassirer with other artists in the space.

Below you can view the work he is exhibiting with the museum titled “The Glitch” which is a reimaging of the famous painting “Judith Beheading Holofernes” by Caravaggio. Cassirer has done to the painting what he calls “VR Them” which involves placing VR headsets onto the subjects and turning a once still image into a moving video flipping and glitching between the before and after. He does so to place these characters and works into a sorta limbo creating layers of images  & manipulate subjects from the art world.

When we asked Udi to explain how his approach to art has changed with NFTs this is what he had to say. “As I see it, the NFT world has a language Which is influenced by Music Clips, The Format Of Short Vids, Commercial And the Era Of Tiktok, and Instagram. As all these fashion, art, music, and commercial influence all exist In this digital ecosystem, NFT as a digital format handles It well.” We also asked Cassirer to expand on what he meant for him and the art world to be a part of this NFT exhibition in such an important space. “I Think Tel Aviv Museum, The curators: Maya Vinitsky, Yonni Avidan, and Chief Curator Mira Lapidot, “Took up the glove” With Wisdom & Courage. Took A Very Dynamic Current Topic, Which Connects Disciplines Such As Design, Art, Media, Communication, Technology, Etc. Exhibiting In A Museum Is An Important Step, The Works Were Chosen Because They Are Good. As A Painter Who Also Creates In The Digital Field, This Is An Important Step For An Artist as it opens new opportunities (NYC recently). I See The Digital Art And NFTs More Occupying A Place In Museums, Exhibitions, And Major Art Fairs. with this, Blockchain Tech. / NFT, Enable The Distribution And Creation of Digital Art in The Dynamic Art Market.”
