Turning found twigs into tiny human saints, a look at Chris Kenny
Turning found objects into human-like figures is something I did as a kid and I’m sure others did as well. Chris Kenny is taking this idea to another level with his ‘Twig Saints’ project, to which he has dedicated an entire Instagram. The multidisciplinary artist works with all sorts of found objects and mediums to craft his artworks. Kenny’s portfolio is filled with drawings, sculptures, collages, poems, and of course twigs.
Chris finds twigs and carefully pieces them together to forum humanlike figures that he names after specific saints. Such as St Anastasia the Virgin, St Placidus, and St Nikita the Devil Beater. Under each post, Kenny gives a detailed story of the specific saint to give viewers more context. Head over to the artist’s Instagram here to explore them more.
