Ominous and Surreal, a look at Aykut Aydoğdu
Painting or digital art? We call it digital paintings and Istanbul based artist Aykut is known for these gorgeous digital works of art. Each work is so detailed that it’s truly a sight to behold. His often dark and surreal art has always held a special place in my heart as I have followed Aykut for quite some time now. It’s not often that he post a new work and I’m not one of the first to like it. His work primarily consists of portraits of female characters. These characters are frequently becoming part of or spliced with different animals, objects, and nature itself. His works no matter how morbid and surreal they are, are also unbelievably beautiful and always drag you in.
Not only does his art appeal to the masses but they can be interpreted in many different ways. For instance, the work below that features a woman holding a man’s head while she kisses it. To me, this one is about a women’s infatuation with an individual that might not love her back and her feelings are so strong that if she can’t have him she doesn’t want anyone to have him. Let’s also take a look at the work of a young woman licking an ice cream cone that’s actually a smaller head of herself. This could be representing self-indulgent, and one’s selfishness. But like I said these can be interpreted in many ways, so let us know what you see!
