Magical and realistic portraits, a look at the painter Eddy Stevens
The paintings of Eddy Stevens spark so many ideas and feeling within my mind. The Belgium born artist has a natural talent for creating. His first exhibition was at the age of 16 and he is still impressing viewers with his unique style to this day. His style echos 16th and 17th-century style portraits with his close attention to details and choice of colors. However, each work has what can only be described as a ‘magical flair’ with each painting containting ever-increasing bizarre settings and props. This style of art is known as Magic Realism and sets out to blur the lines between reality and fantasy.
“It’s a reflection of who I am, how I look at our physical and emotional world and how we behave as human beings,” says Stevens about the paintings and what they represent. (Via his website)
