The ‘Penrider’ Carlos Fernández creates eerie and surreal graphite drawings
Appearing like surreal twilight zone black and white images, these graphite drawings spark feelings of loneliness and fear in the heart of the viewer. The person behind these drawings is Carlos Fernández (Carlos Fdez) or perhaps even better known by the name ‘Penrider.’
The use of simple black and white graphite drawings adds a layer of mystery to each work, allowing the surreal and striking imagery to hit even harder. From a woman surrounded by frogs in a lake, a young girl kissing a worm-like creature wearing a disguise, to sheep feasting on a wolf, each scene is more horrifying than the last. It’s because of this fear that we become immersed into the works, continuing to look always intrigued to what Penrider might present us next.
“He survives as an illustrator of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire the Penrider.” (Via the artist website)
