The Dream of a Day Center in Nature: for children Orphan illnesses
The cocktail-profit Fireflies and colors took place in Sherbrooke’s Bistro WIPTEC on October 3rd at 5:30 pm for the Estrien foundation Children GIOIA, founded by Dr. Marie Josée Dubois of Austin. Its mission is to offer experiential nature activities and care to families with a child diagnosed with a rare and incurable disease. The foundation’s ultimate goal is to build a day center in nature, Espace GIOIA.
The Duo of Painters BAKU will be performing and presenting a solo exhibition inspired by the colorful theme of the event. Collaboration pieces with various artists such as Archan Nair, Josh Mccarthy (McMonster) and Raul Lara will be exhibited for the first time during the event.
A percentage of the sales will be donated to the foundation.
Presented by Desjardins and WIPTEC, the evening will be under the honorary presidency of Mr. Martin Ball, president of WIPTEC, winner of the Gala recognition Estrie 2019, and Mr. Martin Ratté, general manager of the Caisse Desjardins du Nord de Sherbrooke.
The event brought $10,000 to Les Enfants Gioia. This will bring them closer to their goal of building a safe retreat in nature home where they’ll be offering care to children with orphan illnesses and their families. It was the first event of the sort.
